FredHead Farewell

Fellow FredHeads,

What a sad, sad day this is. First of all, I want to thank all of you for your time and efforts to help Fred. We all know that Fred was the best person for the job, but unfortunately, others in America did not see that.

Here in Ohio, we had THE BEST team of supporters. I openly want to thank Darrin Klinger & Brian Stewart for all their leadership in Columbus, Tom Ross for all his help in the 2nd Congressional District, Tim McDonald for being the “other” Ohio4fred person. Also a special thank you to all of you who stepped up to be delegates and those who helped with getting petition signatures. There are many others who have been a constant support to Fred (too many to name) and know your efforts are greatly appreciated and your friendship has meant so much.

Most of all, I want to thank all of you for standing up for the only true Conservative in the race and spread the word about Fred. It has been great working with and communicating with all of you.

I am disappointed that he didn’t stick it out, at least until Feb 5 as I really think he had a shot and there could still be a scandal or “scream” moment which would open it wide open for him.

Many have asked me, what now? Who is your second choice?

Frankly, I don’t have a second choice. I was 110% committed to Fred for all the right reasons. I am an issues voter and I have serious issues with the other candidates (some more than others), and I am actually feeling like I did this time last year, like there is no one that I can truly get excited about. At this point, I really can’t say what I will do. I am hoping that he is picked as a VP candidate if nothing else as he would be the conservative voice in the White House—and you know we NEED that.

Please keep me in mind and keep me informed what you are up to. For those of you in Ohio’s 8th State Senate district, I am running (unopposed) for State Central Committee so I hope you will vote for me…even though we can’t also vote for FredL

I hope that this is just the beginning of our relationship and that we will all have the opportunity to work together in the future.

Thank you all again for your “Fredship” and friendship.

GO FRED!

Fred Campaign files in SW Ohio today

Fred Thompson for President Campaign files Petitions with Board of Elections

(Cincinnati, Ohio) At 3:30 p.m. today, representatives from the Fred Thompson for President Campaign will file petitions for the 1st and 2nd Congressional Districts with the Hamilton County Board of Elections. The action was part of a statewide effort begun today by the campaign that will ultimately place Fred Thompson on the Republican primary ballot.

Christa Criddle, a Delegate for Fred Thompson from the First Congressional District said “We are very excited to get Fred on Ohio’s ballot. He is the only viable candidate who is a social and fiscal conservative, and strong on national defense and immigration. These are real and important issues to voters here in Southwest Ohio.” Criddle further explained that “just like in 2004, Southwest Ohio will be a crucial component of Ohio’s vote in next year’s election.” She further iterated that “Fred Thompson is the best candidate to beat Hillary and become the next President of the United States.”

Phone for Fred

I often get asked how people can help Fred. My immediate response is always that we need to talk him up, get others to be Fred Heads, and have them sign up to get information. We now have another "assignment" from the campaign.

With the early primaries coming up in less than a month, we need to take an active roll in helping those early voters choose Fred.

There is a program at Fred08.com called Phone for Fred. You can host your own phone bank with your friends, family and fellow Fred Heads to call these early voters OR you can just do it yourself on your own time.

If you have a little bit of time over the next week or so, consider this easy way to help get people turned out for Fred with this important effort.

Fred is the whole package

Hi Fellow Fred Heads!

We all feel that Fred is the BEST choice for President for our Country. One of our Fellow Fred Heads passed on this link in which shows why Jeri Thompson is the BEST choice for 1st Lady. Laura Ingraham interview Jeri on the O'Reilly Factor and I think she has what takes.

I also have some additional information for you as you are out there rallying folks for Fred. As I am talking about Fred to people, I often come across people who are trying to decide between Fred and another candidate.

Fred Thompson is the ONLY one who is socially AND fiscally conservative. Fred is the whole package and always has been. He has the National Right to Life endorsement.

The Club for Growth has great summaries of each candidate's record on Economic issues This is a good resource.

Our fellow Fred Head also passed on this great article from the National Review as well. Please pass on this information to all your contacts to get them on board with Fred.

Campaign Update

Hi Fellow SWOhio Fred Heads:

I want to take this opportunity to give you an update on the Fred '08 campaign.

I hope you all had the opportunity to see the debate last week. I thought Fred did a GREAT job and I am really fired up about the upcoming primary...YES it is coming up WAAAY to fast--- March 4, 2008 in Ohio!

To give you all an update, there has been movement on the campaign front. As all of you who had signed up to receive my Fred e-mails, the hunt for delegates has been underway. Thank you to all who have expressed an interest. There are only so many possible spots, so not everyone who has applied will have the opportunity to be a delegate. However, please know other types of leadership opportunities will come up and the campaign does notice that you all have stepped up to the plate early.

I have been in regular contact with the state coordinator and the other volunteer campaign coordinators throughout the state and the state coordinator is in contact with the Thompson Campaign. Many of these folks working on Fred's campaign statewide worked with me statewide during the Bush '04 campaign. The fact that these same people are working just as hard for Fred already gives me a lot of confidence. I have told them what a great group of people we have here in SW Ohio and how motivated you all are to help Fred. I know you will all continue to step forward for the various leadership roles as they come together.

If you have any particular "Interest Group" that you would like to get involved with and/or be the Captain for your particular community, please let me know. You have come into the campaign at its infancy. What a cool thing to say that you were part of Team Thompson from the start. It is also great to say the YOU recruited lots of other FredHeads, so please continue with getting others to sign up to help Fred here in SW Ohio.

Feel free to pass this on. Also, encourage others to visit this blog below to sign up as a FredHead. We have a great start at volunteers, but a Presidential Race as important as this one we truly need all the people we can get so that Fred Thompson wins the Presidency in 2008!

Thompson- The REAL Conservative

Liz Sidoti of the Associated Press talks about a speech Fred Thompson was giving in New York last night.

Fred said "Some think the way to beat the Democrats in November is to be more like them. I could not disagree more," the one-time Tennessee senator says in remarks he is to deliver to the Conservative Party of New York.
"I believe that conservatives beat liberals only when we challenge their outdated positions, not embrace them. This is not a time for philosophical flexibility, it is a time to stand up for what we believe in."

CAN I GET AN AMEN!

I am so glad that we, as conservatives, have someone that not only thinks what we do but is up front with it. I have been saying this for years- often butting up against party leadership.

Thanks Fred! For speaking up for people like me-- true Conservatives!

He is speaking up for us, now WE need to speak up for him.

Support TRUE Conservative leadership and vote FRED THOMPSON in '08! Sign up now to volunteer as a FredHead!

Behind every good man is a good woman

Jeri Thompson was recently interviewed by the Naperville Sun, since she is a hometown girl. With some past presidents, we in the social conservative realm, have realized that the President may have one view on an issue, but their wife may have a different position and that can cause some concern.

The reporter, Susan Frick Carlman (props to her) came out and directly asked the question:

Q. There are indications that the religious conservative arm of the party will be launching an effort to prevent a Rudy Giuliani nomination, in large part based on his liberal stance on social issues, including abortion. What is your position on that issue?
A. There is another quote that you might have heard about me, and that is that there is no space between Fred and me on policy issues. I think that's probably one of the reasons that we get along so well, and probably some of the reason that people are uncomfortable. Fred is 100 percent [anti-abortion] in his voting on that issue, he's very clear where he stands, and I am 100 percent in agreement with him.

As a pro-life voter, that is really good to see. I am very happy to see that she is on the same page. So far, from the few interviews I have seen, I have been impressed with and would be very pleased to have her as our next First Lady.

Fred on Iran

This past week, as I am sure you all know, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad came to New York to both speak at the UN and to the liberal loonies at Columbia.

Most good Americans were upset about this, but there were some comments by Fred on this issue that reaffirmed my faith that Fred is the right one for our country. His comments and points are directly in line with mine (and I am sure most of the good people on the right side of the political spectrum.)

His comments on the World Bank's Aid to Iran can be found at the All American Patriots website. Though his comments go beyond this, he sums it up by stating:

"Time is long overdue for the U.S. and its G-8 partners to end all World Bank funding to Iran until it abides by UN directives, lives up to its international obligations, and stops all of its illicit activities in the region."

He also commented on the appearance of the Iranian evil dictator with this statement.

"Columbia University gave a public forum today to a tyrant to spread his lies and deceit."
"...I find it ironic that Iran's president accepted an invitation to speak at Columbia University, since students who dissent on Iranian campuses are not met with debate, they are met by a gun and imprisonment. "

But my favorite comment was in the Dallas News. He said:
"I would deny this character a visa. What's he going to do, visit there to get pointers for his own activities? I wouldn't let him in the country."

Update on Fred Head 9/6/08 Luncheon

Hi Fellow Fred Heads!

I wanted to give you all an update on our Fred Head Luncheon we had yesterday at Frisch's. It was great to see so many enthusiastic people in support of Fred Thompson and great that we could all finally say that he is in the race.

We discussed the reasons we all support Fred and some common threads 1. We agree with him on 99% of his issues-- except that evil McCain-Feingold thing.-- I hope he has a mea culpa on that one.
2. He is for less federal government and has been to his core consistently
3. He is a conservative that the base can get behind
4. He has a real chance of winning this thing
5. He seems like a genuine person
6. He seems to be the closest thing to Ronald Reagan that we have seen for a long while.
7. and more.

As we did the introductions, we noticed that we come from different backgrounds and past political involvement (from never having participated before, to being very involved in political campaigns) and we all have different talents & skills that are valuable. It was great to see some newcomers to the political arena understand the dire importance of this election in our country's history.

We also discussed the importance of getting a large volunteer database together because the more people, the lighter the load. When people sign up to volunteer, some will only want to put a sign in their yard, which is great. Others will take a leadership role in their community to get volunteers. All are important.

On that note, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to recruit at least 5 people to sign up on this website to Be A Fred Head.

You can also send them to www.ohio4fred.conservablogs.com to get even more information and connections with Tim with the Ohio 4 Fred site. If you havent done so already, please sign up on both. Each of us, though we coordinate efforts, may have our own opportunities.

Last thing I will bring up now is, if you would like to make a monetary contribution to Fred, I have a link on this website to donate. The reason that is important is that it is tracked from this site and it will give SW Ohio credit as a place that Fred should come-- the more support we give him the better. '

I hope this sums it up pretty well. I heard from a lot of you that were not able to make the meeting, but we will be having more in the future. Feel free to host your own party as well with family and friends or you too can open it up to SWOhio Fred Heads. It is a great way to meet like-minded individuals and get fired up.

Also, visit the Official Fred 08 Website for more good information on Fred.

We are calling all SWOHIO Fred Heads to meet for lunch at Noon, Thursday, Sept 7 at the Frisch's at 8008 Reading Rd, 45237 (just off Ronald Reagan and I-75).

I tried to pick a location that would be easily accessed from all directions. RSVP is REQUIRED so I know how many to expect.

If you would like to plan your own event, visit the www.imwithfred.com to set up your own house party.

I hope to see you on Thursday.

Do I finally see a light at the end of the tunnel?

According to the Official Fred Thompson Website Fred will be officially jumping into the race on September 6! All I can say to that is FINALLY! We have been teased about this for so long, it is almost hard to believe.

I am so excited and I feel that this is the poke that we all need. Momentum had been sooo high in June, then with nothing for so long, it staggard a bit, but now we all have something to both look forward to as well as use to get volunteers.

They are looking to have House Parties that evening. If you want to host a party, please visit the ImWithFred website to sign up.

I think it would be fun to get together for lunch (I can't do a 7:30-9 event) somewhere that day to celebrate. Any ideas on location? I will set it up.

Please go out there to recruit and RUN FRED RUN!

Will Fred get Newts blessing?

The buzz now is that in late September, after Fred formally announces--- yes I think we are all groaning a bit about having to wait till September--- Newt will give his blessings to Fred. For those of us who hold Newt, father of the Contract with America, in such high regard, this is a good buzz to hear. It would seem the most logical ichoice. One of Newt's top people, Rich Galen, is now on the Fred Team.
Should you like to read more, The Politico has an article about this.

I for one think this is great positive and only adds credibiltiy to conservative credentials.

Go Fred!--but announce already!

Thompson IS pro-life

Well, it has been a few weeks now since the whole "Fred Thompson is a pro-abortion lobbyist" thing came out. I havent commented on it up to now because, as a staunch pro-lifer, I wanted to see how things panned out. I had a hard time buying the whole thing and frankly didn't pay a whole lot of attention to it since his voting record was pro-life and I have heard on several occasions recently say he is pro-life and speak out on behalf of life issues.

That said, a good summary of the situation can be found in a LifeNews article by Steven Ertelt.
They can't find evidence that he did this, the LATimes, which I am sure looks for ANY reason to jab a conservative, had to recount part of the article. It was based on leftists saying that it happened. That said, could he have spoken to someone working on the issue for the pro-abortionists? Sure. As a lawyer, according to Thompson, he may have given consultation to another lawyer on the issue, but I think they threw this up and it didnt stick.

At least this "crisis" is based on a real issue and not an attack on the attractiveness of his wife.

An-ti-ci-pa-tion, Anticipaaation is making me wait

Remember the old ketchup commercial? I kind of feel like that now. We are all anticipating the official word that Fred Thompson is jumping with both feet into the water.

He has the anticipation bump in the polls. Lets keep the momentum rolling with an announcement. We dont want him to take a dip before the announcement. It is kind of like gambling. You should always quit while you are ahead or you risk losing it all.

I honestly hope he doesn't wait too long because I think that some people may start to get tired of the waiting.

We all know he is going to run. Lets kick things off and start the next phase.

RUN FRED RUN!

Fred Head Meeting Update!!

Hello FredHeads!

We had a great meeting today. Tim, from Ohio4Fred wrote the e-mail below, which summarizes things very well. I just want to add to the information below a BIG thanks to Tim for kicking this in gear and doing a great job with the information packet we got at the meeting. At this point, what we all need to focus on is getting volunteers. You may recruit 100 people to say they will help with a campaign, but in reality only 2-3 will be very active volunteers, another 10 will do a few things, 50 may not do anything but get e-mails and vote and the rest may just put up a sign in their yard. All of which are very important, but as you can see you need to get many more people signed up than you REALLY need for a campaign-- so your assignment is to recruit people and have them sign up through the SWOhio4Fred site.

I encourage you to visit Tim's website which has lots of very helpful information about Fred and the issues. Use that as a resource. All my other thoughts are stated in Tim's e-mail below.

Thanks to all who came.
Christa

I just wanted to report back that the inaugural meeting of Ohio4Fred and SW Ohioans 4 Fred Thompson was a success. We had six members in attendance, which I thought was very good for a weekday afternoon on two days notice.
Everyone was very enthusiastic, and we had some very good discussion about
Fred, the issues, other candidates, and where we go from here. We seem to
have some very good people on board, and we began developing some good ideas for moving ahead.
I want to thank those that were able to find time to meet this afternoon, and apologize to those that could not make it because of the timing and short notice. We hope to schedule future meetings further in advance, and will schedule for the evening when possible.
I will be following this up later with some more detailed information on what we discussed, and we will also be requesting some specific actions from each of us. It is time to get to work.
I want to offer a special thanks to Christa of SE Ohioans 4 Fred. She brings much valuable campaign experience to our group, and will really help to make our efforts a success. Please take the time to visit her at http://swohio4fred.blogspot.com/, especially if you are in the SW corner of the State.

Inaugural Meeting of the SWOhio Fred Heads

Hello, FredHeads!
Sorry for the short notice, but I would like to invite you to the inauguralmeeting of the SW Ohio FredHeads. Speculation is that Fred will beannouncing his candidacy some time in the next week, so it is important thatwe begin to plan for the next phase of the campaign.
This will be an informal meeting to make introductions with other FredThompson supporters in the area (including those at http://conservablogs.com/ohio4fred/) and to make preliminary organizational plansfor the Southwest Ohio region. Many of us have been communicating over the internet for some time, and it will be good to finally meet in person.
We will be meeting at:LaRosa’s Restaurant, Tri-County11711 Princeton RoadAcross from the Tri-County Mall
Thursday, June 2812:00 noon
I realize that this is very short notice, but I do hope that you are able toattend. If you know of any others that would be interested, please bringthem along. Please RSVP so that we know how many to expect.
Hope to see you on Thursday!

His Ex's Love Him

How many of you can say the same? Although the rivals would love to have his ex's to attack him (like Bill did), it seems that, unlike most of us, his ex's still think he's wonderful! In the Sunday Times's quotes like “I couldn’t think of a bad word to say about Fred if somebody put a gun to my head." and “He’s handsome, he’s charming, he sounds like a president,” and this one "My children thought the world of Fred and my mother thinks he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread”. You have ex-wives, past girlfriends, their kids and their mothers loving him--- AFTER the relationship. If he has the character to do that with an ex-girlfriend, imagine the diplomacy with a foreign leader!

Is Tuesday THE day?

Rumors are rampant that Tuesday will be the day that Fred makes the big announcement. WSMV in Nashville is reporting this. However, there seemes to be some kind of discrsepency in WHAT will be announced. Falls school will be the site of the National HQ-- but the Thompson staff say that is all that will be announced. We shall see.

Good v. Evil (Fred v. Hillary)

Come 2008, we will feel like we are in Gotham City, in a battle of good v. evil.

The two people that are pulling ahead of the pack are Fred Thompson and Hillary Clinton. People often claim that, when faced with two candidates, there isn't much of a choice. They say there really isn't a difference. Well, with these two, you couldn't have much more diametrically opposed people.

Fred is a straight shooter and a WYSIWYG kind of person. Hillary is a chameleon, that changes her color (or accent) depending on who is her audience. Pro-life v. pro-abortion. Tough against terrorists v. who knows, she keeps changing her position. Federalism v. Socialism. Conservative v. Liberal. Statesman v. hag (OK, that's my editorial comment- but hey, my blog).

The choice is clear. FRED THOMPSON 2008!

Fred Thompson is on top!

According to the Rasmussen Poll of June 19, Fred Thompson jumped 4 points from last week to overtake Rudy as first place contender!
We're number 1! We're number 1!

With the decline of both Romney and McCain I suggest that as soon as Fred makes it official, they should officially drop out and put their support behind Fred.

Lets keep the momentum going.

Fred's Pro-Life Video Address!!

Fred Thompson addressed the National Right to Life Conference tonight via video sent to the Christian Broadcasting Network. It is dated today 6/14/07 and shows his wife and small children.

There has been criticism by those trying to discredit Fred on his stance on abortion. As a very vocal pro-life supporter, I looked into this as well, and frankly it is a litmus test for me with a candidate.

I always understood his federalist position on abortion, and agreed with giving it back to the states (since I believe it would be overturned in most cases). I also looked at his ACTIONS as voting 100% pro-life and if Right to Life feels comfortable endorsing him, that is good enough for me.

I was also happy to hear his support of ADULT but not EMBRYONIC stem cell research.

I like him more and more every time I see him.

Fred Thompson Statesman

I came across a YouTube video on Fred Thompson FL GOP 1998 National Statesman. It features some of the highlights of his career. Worth the watch. Kind of a promo-video.

Thompson on Tonight Show!

Watch Fred Thompson on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight.

Fred Thompson TIED with Rudy!

This weeks Rasmussen poll has Fred and Rudy in a dead heat! Not that SWOhio4Fred is at all surprised. Rudy was feeling the pressure last week when Fred slid past Romney in last weeks poll. And thats not all! The Times/Bloomberg Poll has him just behind Guiliani's 27% to Thompson's 21%. For someone not even "officially" in the race, that is pretty darn good.

Keep the momentum going by telling all your friends and neighbors to become Fred Heads!

Is Fred Thompson getting B%&@ slapped by George Will?

Ramesh Ponnuru from the National Review comments on a George Will article in Newsweek. Will compares Fred Thompson to excitement over tulips as THE hot item in the 1630s in Holland, which then crashed and burned with people wondering what all they hype was.

I think Will may have just fallen off the turnip truck (or in this case tulip truck). He seems to have something against Fred Thompson, but his arguments, to me, seem weak. He feels he has to start his attack by saying

"One does not want to be unfair to Thompson, who may have hidden depths. But ask yourself this: If he did not look like a basset hound who had just read a sad story—say, "Old Yeller"—and if he did not talk like central casting's idea of the god Sincerity, would anyone think he ought to be entrusted with the nation's nuclear arsenal?"

The fact that he had to resort to an attack on Thompson's appearance right away, shows the lack of depth of his arguments. If one would like to stoop, one could point out the shrill cackle of a candidate's voice from the left side of the aisle, but I won't stoop to do that as there are many more substantive points to make against THAT person.

And besides, I happen to like basset hounds.

Fred Thompson...Start Your Engines!

The sound you hear is the Thompson engine revving up and passing up most of the current Republican contenders for President. Stephen F. Hayes in his 6/18/07 The Weekly Standard article "Zero to 60" talks about how when several people who knew him realized the void in the current slate, all thought of HIM to lead the country as a "conservative's conservative". His numbers in the straw polls seem to show that many good conservative Americans want and need him to run.

We hear the negatives about how he can't raise enough money in a short time, he needs to raise a lot of money to do well.

Well, WE are all talking about him and unlike his fellow candidates, (as Fred pointed out) he "hasn't spent a dime yet".

Fred Thompson on H&C

See Fred's interview on Hannity & Colmes tonight.

OFFICIAL FRED THOMPSON WEBSITE IS ONLINE

Hey all you Fred Heads!

Fred Thompson revealed the official website of Friends of Fred tonight on Hannity & Colmes.

To contribute to his campaign, you can click on this link.

Lets give Fred all our support. To volunteer on a local level you can still click the "Become a Fred Head" link to the right. We are building a local database for events.

Go Fred!

UPDATE: Fred Thompson raised over $220,000 from his website in the first 18 hours of its launch!

Google Search: "Fred Thompson"

Fred Thompson blog Googles have jumped drastically in the past week, according to campaign blogger Dillard Mush. Since Fred announced his pre-campaign kick-off last week, people have been flocking to the blogs to talk about and find out more about Fred Thompson.

Yours truly has been surfing the blog world and having some nice e-mail chats with other bloggers (who happened to find me).

With the Internet being such a great tool in this election (even more so than for the 2004 race) this is a good way for Fred Heads to get Web Heads on board for President Thompson!

Have you been doing your research?

Show Me the Money

In the Wall Street Journal today, Christopher Cooper discusses Fred Thompson's ability to raise money this late in the game. He mentioned that many big money fund-raisers have already [sold their souls] to other candidates and that many people have already committed their money elsewhere.

But there was hope in that states like Ohio have yet to come close to what "W" raised here. Which makes it even more important for us to spread the word and recruit Fred Heads to show him the money!

Can he win the money war?

Cato weighs in on Fred

The Cato Institute is chiming in on Fred Thompson's position on fiscal conservatism and federalism.

I am so excited to have a true federalist in the race. I am a huge supporter of the Constitution and its Bill of Rights. The 10th Amendment clearly states that "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people."

It seems pretty clear to me and I can't figure out how our Legislative Branch gets away with so much. We have overstepped our bounds so far now that we can no longer see the line.

Lets hope that Fred wins in '08. If the likes of Hillary, Obama, Edwards or Richardson win, I am afraid we will not only step farther out of bounds, we may just fall off the edge.

Ready for Fred Video

This is a great Fred video made by some Cincinnatians. Enjoy!

Survey says......

Here is an interesting report from Rasmussen. It says that:

Twenty-two percent (22%) of Americans say they will definitely vote for him if he's on the ballot in 2008. Thirty percent (30%) will definitely vote against him. That net deficit of eight percentage points (22% for minus 30% against) is better than all other candidates in the race except for Barack Obama.

I say that is pretty good considering he hasn't even announced yet! To quote Fred Barnes on Fox News, "he is running the best non-campaign, campaign ever."

I think he has the opportunity to win over those that came out early for Guiliani because they remembered him from 9-11 (now that they found out how liberal he is), the McCainites (since McCain couldn't get a 4yr old girl excited about her own birthday), and even those who were leaning toward Romney (since we have all have that gnawing feeling about someone who sees the light right before a major campaign).

Fred is the talk of the town!

What has the whole country buzzing?

Fred Thompson seems to be getting closer and closer to announcing his candidacy.

There was a conference call with his "First Day Founders" and the New York Times is talking about his move toward a run for the president.

The Washington Post is discussing Fred's campaign committee. But probably the biggest indicator is that "Thompson is leaving Law & Order"!

The speculation is that he will announce over July 4 weekend. We will see. I just hope it is soon!
