Campaign Update

Hi Fellow SWOhio Fred Heads:

I want to take this opportunity to give you an update on the Fred '08 campaign.

I hope you all had the opportunity to see the debate last week. I thought Fred did a GREAT job and I am really fired up about the upcoming primary...YES it is coming up WAAAY to fast--- March 4, 2008 in Ohio!

To give you all an update, there has been movement on the campaign front. As all of you who had signed up to receive my Fred e-mails, the hunt for delegates has been underway. Thank you to all who have expressed an interest. There are only so many possible spots, so not everyone who has applied will have the opportunity to be a delegate. However, please know other types of leadership opportunities will come up and the campaign does notice that you all have stepped up to the plate early.

I have been in regular contact with the state coordinator and the other volunteer campaign coordinators throughout the state and the state coordinator is in contact with the Thompson Campaign. Many of these folks working on Fred's campaign statewide worked with me statewide during the Bush '04 campaign. The fact that these same people are working just as hard for Fred already gives me a lot of confidence. I have told them what a great group of people we have here in SW Ohio and how motivated you all are to help Fred. I know you will all continue to step forward for the various leadership roles as they come together.

If you have any particular "Interest Group" that you would like to get involved with and/or be the Captain for your particular community, please let me know. You have come into the campaign at its infancy. What a cool thing to say that you were part of Team Thompson from the start. It is also great to say the YOU recruited lots of other FredHeads, so please continue with getting others to sign up to help Fred here in SW Ohio.

Feel free to pass this on. Also, encourage others to visit this blog below to sign up as a FredHead. We have a great start at volunteers, but a Presidential Race as important as this one we truly need all the people we can get so that Fred Thompson wins the Presidency in 2008!

GO FRED!

Thompson- The REAL Conservative

Liz Sidoti of the Associated Press talks about a speech Fred Thompson was giving in New York last night.

Fred said "Some think the way to beat the Democrats in November is to be more like them. I could not disagree more," the one-time Tennessee senator says in remarks he is to deliver to the Conservative Party of New York.
"I believe that conservatives beat liberals only when we challenge their outdated positions, not embrace them. This is not a time for philosophical flexibility, it is a time to stand up for what we believe in."

CAN I GET AN AMEN!

I am so glad that we, as conservatives, have someone that not only thinks what we do but is up front with it. I have been saying this for years- often butting up against party leadership.

Thanks Fred! For speaking up for people like me-- true Conservatives!

He is speaking up for us, now WE need to speak up for him.

Support TRUE Conservative leadership and vote FRED THOMPSON in '08! Sign up now to volunteer as a FredHead!

Behind every good man is a good woman

Jeri Thompson was recently interviewed by the Naperville Sun, since she is a hometown girl. With some past presidents, we in the social conservative realm, have realized that the President may have one view on an issue, but their wife may have a different position and that can cause some concern.

The reporter, Susan Frick Carlman (props to her) came out and directly asked the question:

Q. There are indications that the religious conservative arm of the party will be launching an effort to prevent a Rudy Giuliani nomination, in large part based on his liberal stance on social issues, including abortion. What is your position on that issue?
A. There is another quote that you might have heard about me, and that is that there is no space between Fred and me on policy issues. I think that's probably one of the reasons that we get along so well, and probably some of the reason that people are uncomfortable. Fred is 100 percent [anti-abortion] in his voting on that issue, he's very clear where he stands, and I am 100 percent in agreement with him.

As a pro-life voter, that is really good to see. I am very happy to see that she is on the same page. So far, from the few interviews I have seen, I have been impressed with and would be very pleased to have her as our next First Lady.
